ERNEST "CAP" MCGINNIS, age 89, passed away Monday, April 12, 1999 at Wayne County Hospital. He was born in the Slickford Community of Wayne County, Kentucky on November 28, 1909, the son of James and Clarinda Upchurch McGinnis. Both parents preceded him in death.

In June of 1929, he married Nona Bell Lowe McGinnis, who survives.

He is also survived by 10 children Beatrice Dishman, Georgia Brown, Bonnetta Gertram, and Mary Guffey, all of Monticello, Kentucky, Robert McGinnis of Somerset, Kentucky, Ivory DiPiero of Youngstown, Ohio, James McGinnis of Lawrence, Michigan, Clyde McGinnis of Beverly, Ohio, Jack McGinnis of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Kathy Reed of Clinton, Tennessee; 33 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Preceding him in death is 1 son Jerry "Toddy" McGinnis.

He had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of the Central Union Baptist Church where he served as Deacon.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 14, 1999 in the funeral home chapel with Brother Richie Curtis, Brother Wayne Bowling, and Brother David Flagler officiating. Burial was in the Elk Spring Cemetery with Brother Matthew Dalton officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Gideon Memorial Plan.
