"The LaFayette Sun" - November 27, 1901:

Confederate Monument for LaFayette.

The Daughters of the Confederacy have appointed a committee, consisting of Mrs. W. G. Davis, Mrs. J. E. Timmons and Miss B. C. McLemore to solicit subscriptions to a fund for the erection of a monument in honor of the Chambers County soldiers, with the name of every soldier carved upon it. We wish to interest the entire County in this movement, so that will be the "County's Tribute to her soldiers."
Teachers, veterans, and citizens in different townships of the County who will act as sub-committees will please notify us.
