Catherine Lewis's obituary, as printed in a Johnstown, PA newspaper gives the following account of her life:

"Last evening at 6:45 o'clock, at the residence of her son, C.T. Williams, on the corner of Market and Vine streets, Mrs. Catherine Williams died after an illness of several months. Mrs. Williams was born April 23, 1835, at Dolgellau, in North Wales. Her parents were John and Annie Lewis. When she was eight years old the family moved to Llanuwchlyn, where she lived until 1866, when she moved to the town of Bala, in the same county. She dwelt at Bala until 1901, when she came to Johnstown to live with her son. In her 19th year she became the wife of the Rev. David Jones, a Baptist minister. To him she bore four children, one of whom died in infancy. The surviving three are: Thomas, who is a preacher in Manchester, Eng.; Catherine, who lives in Australia, and Naomi, who is the wife of the Rev. John T. Griffith of Richville, N. Y.

After the death of David Jones, which took place in 1862, the widow was married to the Rev. Robert Williams, also a Baptist minister. Of this union three children were born – C.T. Williams, Robert Williams and Miss Margaret Williams, all of whom live in Johnstown. At the time of this marriage Robert Williams had four children by a previous wife. Mrs. Williams became to these a loving and devoted mother. Two of the sons are now Baptist ministers in Wales and one is a farmer on the old homestead in Llanuwchlyn. The other child is Miss Elinor Williams of London, Eng., who is at present visiting here in Johnstown. Robert Williams, Sr. died in 1891. Mrs. Williams was a woman of unusual intelligence and of clear and decided convictions to which she held unflinchingly at whatever sacrifice. The purity and nobleness of her character and her bright and sacrificing disposition won the admiration of all who knew her.

From childhood she had been a thorough going Christian and an active and useful member of the Baptist churches in the towns where she lived. During the past three years she was a devoted member of the Main Street Baptist church in this city.

The funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m., at the residence of her son, 301 Market Street. Dr. Owen James, pastor of the first Baptist church, and the Rev. Robert Humphreys of the Vine Street Calvinistic church officiating. The friends are ernestly asked not to send flowers. This was a devout wish of Mrs. Williams."

The article does leave out one child : Ann Jones, who married Robert Parry and who died rather young, leaving her at least two daughters (Bessie and Tillie) to be raised by her brother, Thomas Jones.
