The first born of Frank and Maria. He was at home on the 1860 and 1870 census. He married Anna Leising on 12 June 1877, Rev. Leander Streber (St. Martins), witnesses William Leising and Rosa Beckmann, brother and sister of the bride and groom.

On the 1900 census Henry and Anna were living at 704 1/2 Camp St. Henry was a porter at Sperry and Bowen (1887 City Directory).

Henry and Anna had eight children:

1. Frank Henry - See Below.

2. Mary Catherine born 26 March 1878 was on the 1880 census. No further record found, possibly died young.

3. Josephine - See Below.

4. Louise Anna born 5 Sept. 1885 married John R. Dailey who was born in IN, father in Ireland. They had been married one year on the 1910 census and had one daughter age six months (Bernida?). No record of death was found for Louise Anna. John had remarried on the 1920 census and they had three children age 2, 4 and 6. A child of Louise and John would have been about eleven years of age.

5. Emma was born in Jan 1886 and was at home on the 1900 census. No further record found.

8. Herman Hubert was living at 1015 E. Burnett Ave. when he registered for the draft in WW I, born 7 Aug. 1895, tall, slender, gray eyes and brown hair. On the 1920 census he was living with his sister Clara at 1023 Burnett and was a welder for the railroad. On the 1956 City Directory he was a Janitor at Semple School and in 1957 a Janitor at Ahrens Trade School. He was living at 1023 Burnett both years. No record of death was found. A Herman Beckman, Social Security card issued in KY, born 7 Aug. 1895 died in Dayton, OH in July 1968. Additional research needed.


Henry died from pulmonary tuberculosis (Certif. #31649). His occupation was shown as shipping clerk, address 1015 Burnett. This was the address of his brother Benjamin A. Beckmann. They may have been caring for him in his last days. Benjamin was 17 years younger than Henry.
