OGDEN--Mrs. Mabel Brenchley Pettit, 62, of 2481 Van Buren, died this morning at the Weber Memorial Hospital in Roy.

Mrs. Pettit was born Jan. 26, 1901 in Mercur, Utah, a daughter of Thomas Clegg and Laura Hall Brenchley. On Nov. 26, 1921, she was married to Charles L. Pettit in Ogden. They later received endowments in the Salt Lake Temple. Mr. Pettit died Sept. 3, 1962.

She received her early education Wellsville, Utah, and came to Ogden prior to marriage.

She was employed by Ogden City schools in the school lunch program. She was a member of the Thirteenth Ward and had been a theology teacher, visiting teacher and Primary counselor. She was former president and secretary of the Sixteenth Ward Primary. She was a member and past president and treasurer of the Ogden Police Benefit Association auxiliary. She had served as sunshine chairman and recording secretary of the American Legion auxiliary, Baker Merrill Post No. 9, and was a member of the 40 et 8 auxiliary. She was a Gold Star mother and served as chaplain and first vice president.

Surviving are one son, Ronald B. Pettit, North Ogden; her stepmother, Mrs. Cassie S. Brenchley, Ogden; the following half brothers and half sisters: Thomas S. Brenchley, Roy; Len S. Brenchley, Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. Grant (Denise) Hammon, Sunset; Mrs. W.L. (Edith) Stephens, Ogden; Mrs. George (Elaine) Leavitt, Hawaii.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Funeral Chapel with Bishop Jack G. Moore of the Thirteenth Ward officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday prior to services.

Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery.
