Miss Nancy Bear, highly respected and well known Christian woman of the Hickory Point neighborhood, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 26, following a brief illness of pneumonia.

Nancy Elizabeth Bear was born February 1, 1875, at Iberia, Miller County, Missouri. Died April 26, 1933, age 58 years, 2 months and 26 days. She was the daughter of Absalom and Mary Catharine Bear, both deceased. She was the second in a family of six sisters and four brothers. Two sisters, Varoncia Amy and Sarah Catharine, preceded her in death. Four brothers, George Thomas, Henry Zebadee, John K. and Absalom Frank and three sisters, Mrs. Martha Atteberry, Edna Ora and Mrs. Mary Zella Livigston, survive.

Her mother died April 1, 1905, 28 years ago. Since then Nancy has been a mother to the family and took care of her father who passed on the last August, just eight months ago.

She united with the Christian Church at Hickory Point, May 26, 1896, and since that time has been an active member, contributing much to the entire community thru her loyalty and devotion to the cause of Christ and thru her ever readiness to care for the sick and needy.

Funeral services were held at the Hickory Point Christian Church at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, and the body was laid to rest in the Hickory Point Cemetery. The beautiful service was conducted by Rev. S.A. Crouch of Tuscumbia, assisted by Rev. Orlando Woods, and music by Tennyson Wright and quartet of Tuscumbia, also the lovely floral offerings showed the great devotion of all who knew her. Clarence Casey of Iberia was funeral director.
