spouse - Walter Ross Livingston, 14837540 married in 15 May 1920 in Eldon, Miller County, Missouri

The New Iberian, January 29, 1976

Mrs. Mary Zella Livingston, 84, of 1025 Woodlawn Ave. passed away Friday morning, January 9, 1976, at an Iowa City, Iowa, nursing home. Her death came after a short illness.

A memorial service was held at the Unitarian-Universalist Society Church Sunday, January 11, at 3:00 p.m. Her body was not interred; it was donated to the University Hospital for medical research. There were no flowers at the family's request.

She was born January 23, 1891, in Iberia, Mo., to Absalom and Mary Catherine Bear. She attended country schools and then became a student of the Iberia Academy. Later she was graduated summa cum laude from Drury Collage, Springfield, Mo., and for several years taught high school in Oklahoma.

In 1920 she married Walter Ross Livingston at Eldon, Mo., and to this marriage three daughters were born; now Mrs. Warren (Jean) Dunkle of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. Bennett (Yvonne) Fischer of Vinton, Iowa, and Mrs. Yaro (Irene) Schnoebelen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Livingston's husband, Ross, survives her, as do her three daughters mentioned above, and he is a retired professor from the University of Iowa at Iowa City. J (The above is from the columns of the Iowa City Free Press.)

In the program of worship for the memorial service these words were printed from the pen of Ross, "A mind, a personality, a loving mother, a noble woman, my wife…" And those short, succinct statements very well summed up what her minister had to say in her behalf.
