Eben E. Banks Of Glennville Died Friday
Eben E. Banks,85,died in the Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Friday.
The native of Tattnall County was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Board of Education for 16 years, director of Vidalia Production Credit Association and served on the first ASCS Committee in Tattnall County.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Bacon Banks of Glennville; four daughters, Mrs. Lawton Durrence and Mrs. Delores Harlow of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mrs. Foch Brewton of Glennville and Mrs. W.G. Waters of Savannah; four sons, Revis E. Banks and Ned Banks of Savannah, Edmond D. Banks of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Larry W. Banks of Glennville; five sisters, Mrs. Mattie Horne, Miss Julia Banks, Miss Anna Mae Banks of Glennville, Mrs. Minnie Thomas of Allendale, S.C., and Mrs. Grace Johnson of Hopkinsville, Ky.; two brothers, Will Banks of Lakeland and Wilton Banks of Glennville and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Beard's Creek Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder J.W. Durrence. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were nephews, William Banks, George Banks, Ralph Banks, Harry Banks, Harvey Bacon and Adger Kicklighter.
Honorary pallbearers were W.H. Bazemore, Bruce Dubberly, Dr. Charles H. Drake, Dr. Curtis Hames, Dr. L.H. Griffin, Roger Kicklighter, Ben Brannen, Herman Lamb, Marcus Stubbs, J.A. Bacon, C.W. Dixon, J.N. Wall, J. Roland Hodges, A.G. Oliver, and Wiley Driggers.
Rimes Mortuary of Glennville was in charge.
