Martha was the daughter of Aristile Sr. and Marie (Blanchard) Legere. She married Thomas Alexander Sr., and they had two sons: Thomas Alexander Jr., and David Wayne.

SALISBURY - Martha Legere Foil, 82, of Salisbury, died Friday (Nov. 4, 2005) at her residence. Born Feb. 23, 1923, in Lafayette, La., Mrs. Foil was a daughter of the late Marie Blanchard Legere and Aristile Legere Sr. Educated in Lafayette schools, she had earlier in life worked for White Packing Company. For the past 15 years, she had worked in the nursery at Salisbury 's Hurley YMCA. Mrs. Foil was a member of Haven Lutheran Church and WELCA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Alexander Foil Sr., on May 3, 1987. Survivors include sons Thomas A. Foil Jr. of Salisbury and David Wayne Foil and wife Patty of Monroe, Ga.; brothers Larry Legere, Jessie Legere and Lewis Legere, all of Lafayette; sisters Verlie Lormand, Lou Angelle , Barbara Melancon, Theoland Castille and Azalie Myers, all of Lafayette; grandchildren Lisa Foil, Teresa Foil and Brian Foil, all of Salisbury, and Robyn Spink, Kristen Foil and Meagan Foil, all of Monroe, Ga.; and great-grandchild Brendan Foil of Salisbury. Service : 2 p.m. Sunday at Haven Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Marcus B. Hovis III and the Rev. Gilmer Boggs officiating. Burial will be at Rowan Memorial Park. Visitation : 7-8:30 tonight at Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Memorials : Rowan Regional Home Health & amp; Hospice, 825-A W.
