ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-Bruce A. Bowen, 73, of 2834 17th Ave., North died Tuesday at his home after a long illness.

Born April 6, 1915, in Denver Colo., he was the son of harry and jenny (Rafferty) Bowen. He was raised by his stepfather Gordon Hayes Sr. of Hudson Falls,N.Y.

On Nov.18, 1988 he and his wife Mary (moon) Bowen of St. Petersburg, had celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Bowen was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1145, a member of the American Legion Cross Bayow Post 252 of St. Petersburg, and a member of the Iron Workerss Local 400 of Utica.

Before moving to Florida, Mr. Bowen was a driver of the Fort Edward, N.Y. [text missing]

Survivors besides his wife include four daughters, Peggy LaRoe of Albany,N.Y., Jane Potter of Queensbury,N.Y., Marcia Forler and Jean Sanders, both of St Petersburg;one son, Robert Bowen of Brandon; two brothers Merrill Bowen of Denver, Colo., and Gordan Hayes Jr. of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; three sisters, Edith Murray of Willow, N.Y., Marion Smith of Troy, N.Y. 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at at 11 a.m. Friday at Gee and Pitts Funeral Home, 3180 30th Ave. North, St. Petersburg, with the Rev.Larry Phelps, of the Church of the Nazarene of St. Petersburg officiating. Burial will be at Bay Pines Veteran's Cemetery,St.Petersburg.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

At the family's and Mr. Bowen's request, donations should take form of contributions to the American Lung Association, instead of flowers.
