Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 12, 1985, at the Trinity Lutheran Church for Alvin Borchardt, 77, of Osage, who died of a heart attack on Tuesday, January 8, at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Kit Belk officiated at the service and burial was in the Grafton Cemetery.

Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alvin Christoph Borchardt was born on May 2, 1907 in Worth county, Iowa, the son of William and Margaret (Arzberger) Borchardt. He was the youngest in the family of 12 children.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Grafton Lutheran Church.

On June 6, 1928 he was united in marriage to Ellizabeth Schmidt in Grafton. They farmed for many years in Worth county. In 1971 they moved to Osage and assisted their son, Glendon in his floral shop, Nature's Originals.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, two granddaughters, Peggy and Rachelle Suby, six brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Boyd (Delores) Suby of Fertile; two sons, Glendon of Osage and Galen of Livermore; three grandchildren and one brother, Lloyd.
