DUFFIELD, Va. - Mrs. Edith M. Gilliam, 82, Duffield, Va., entered into rest Saturday (Feb. 24, 2007) at Lonesome Pine Medical Center in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Mrs. Gilliam was born in Scott County, Va. on March 23, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Laurie Dockery.
In addition to her parents, her sisters, Ona Kendricks, Molly Thacker and Maude Hartgrove; and brothers, Warren Dockery, Brownie Dockery, Meeks Dockery and Emmit (Jim) Dockery preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Gilliam, Duffield, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Jennie Anne Gilliam, Church Hill and Jimmy and Sherry Gilliam, Kingsport; grandchildren, Clayton Gilliam and wife, Beth, Jessica Sams and husband, David, and Ariel Gilliam; great-grandchildren, Jacob, and Haley Gilliam; her brother, Lucian Dockery, Rock Springs community of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. A.J. Lane officiating.
Paul and Dana Tipton will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City , Va.
Doug Gray, Clayton Gilliam, David Sams, Jeff Joyner, Rob Joyner and Morgan Gibson will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
