GATE CITY, Va. - Mollie J. Dockery Thacker, 85, died Sunday (Sept. 23, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Scott County, Va., on Nov. 16, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Dockery and Laurie Dockery. She retired from the environmental service department of Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Thacker was of the Baptist faith.
She was a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Thacker (April 24, 1985); sisters, Ona Kendricks, Maude Hartgrove; brothers, Warren Dockery, Conley Dockery, Areny Clarence (A.C) Dockery and Brownie Dockery.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Jerri (Jeralena) Johnson and Larry, Indianapolis, Ind.; son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Charles Ricky Thacker and Shelby, Kingsport; grandchildren, C. Wayne McGee, Barry S. McGee, Ann Willoughby, Mark E. Roemer and Crystal Thacker; six great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Gilliam, Duffield, Va.; brother, Lucion Dockery, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leonard Dixon officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cox Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore, Va.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Thacker, Bill Gillenwater, Jim Cox, Worley Sexton, Barry Scott McGee and C. Wayne McGee.
The family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
