"The news of the death of A. B. Griffin, who passed away at four o'clock this morning at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Tucker, will carry sadness to the homes of many relatives and friends in this city and section.
The cause of death was paralysis, the stroke coming only a week ago, but Mr. Griffin had not been well for some time previous. Mr. Griffin was born near Opelika April 11, 1839, being 73 years old. He had spent all his life in this community. He was a member of the First M. E. church, of Lee Lodge No. 454, A. F. and A. Masons, and the local Court of Honor. Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, two children by a former marriage, a son, W. S. Griffin and a daughter, Miss Tate Griffin. Also five sisters: Mrs. H. M. Floyd, Mrs. J. C. Edwards, Mrs. R. S. Floyd, Mrs. Victor Walton, Mrs. R. H. Owen, and two brothers, H. L. Griffin of Roanoke, and G. W. Griffin of Tuskegee. Also four grandchildren, Maxie, June, Mary Tate and Annie Laurie Griffin, the children of W. S. Griffin.
The funeral will take place from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Tucker tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10 a. m., Rev. H. H. McNeil officiating. Interment will be in the city cemetery."
