Manerva Catherine Smith was the daughter of John W. and Elizabeth Griffith.

She married John J. Smith. The children born to this family were Cora Alice, Curtis A., May, Charles E., John Sherman, Elmer K., Lola Ellen and Hazel Ruth.

Manerva C. Griffith Smith, daughter of John W. and Elizabeth Griffith, was born September 10, 1856 and departed this life June 26, aged 67 years, 9 months and 16 days.

In the year 1876 she was united in marriage to John J. Smith, who preceded her in death more than seven years ago. To this union eleven children were born, six sons and five daughters, three of whom preceded her in death.

Mrs. Smith was a kind, loving mother and faithful to her husband and children. She was a true and faithful member of the United Brethren Church. She leaves to mourn her departure four sons, four daughters, twenty-three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held at the Bethsadia Church of Christ Friday, June 27, conducted by Rev. Brandenburg of Terre Haute, assisted by Rev. William Krieble, after which the body was laid to rest in the Fiscus Cemetery. THE RECORD, with a host of other friends, deeply sympathize with the bereaved family.
