Sven Victor Carlson was born in Fridlofstad Parish, Blekinge, Sweden, Sept 12,1863. On the date of his falling asleep in the hands of the Lord, Tuesday, May 30, he had reached the age of 80 years, 8 mo. and 18 days.
In the land of his birth he was brought unto the Lord in Holy Baptism in earliest infancy. There, too, at the age of nearly 15 he was confirmed. Throughout life he was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church in which he gave is vows.
At the age of 21, he came to the United States, his mother still residing in Sweden. Shortly after his arrival he became a member of the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Center City, of which he was a faithful and loyal member down through the years. He shared in the labors of the people of God, in the early days helping with the rebuilding of the present edifice, which was struck by lightning in 1888.
On Feb 20, 1892, Mr. Carlson was united in marriage with Ida Mathilda Younggren-Walman. To this union six children were born. One of these, the son Franklin, preceded his father in death in 1924 at the age of 26.
Left to mourn the passing of a devoted and loving father and husband are the widow, Mrs.
Ida Mathilda Carlson, 3 daughters, Mrs. Eleanora Johnson and Mrs. Esther Nelson of Minneapolis and Mrs. Lilly Herberg of Taylors Falls, two sons, Paul A Carlson of Center City and Royale A Carlson of Shafer, residing with his family on the old home farm, where the deceased and his wife also resided. There are also 6 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Friday June 2, with Pastor Gilbert T Monson in charge. Solos were sung by Mrs. L E Telford Johnston with Miss Agda Wennerberg at the organ. Burial was in the Chisago Lake Cemetery
