HEDLEY - John D. Linville, 84, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000

Services will be at 2 P.M. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Hedley with the Rev. Lewis Ellis of Lefors and the Rev. Bruce Howard, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. of Clarendon.

Mr. Linville was born in Earl[e], Ark. He lived in Wellington and Clarendon before moving to Hedley in 1968. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion.

In 1982, Mr. Linville retired as a mechanic. He served as a commodities volunteer and as the chairman of the Christmas Fund in Hedley. He was the last survivor of "Yesterday's Children" and was a Baptist.

He married Della Houdashell in 1958 [1968] at Hedley.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Betty [Linville] Vines of Fort Worth and Reatha Martin [Retha Linville Morton] of Fort Worth; two stepdaughters, Loveta Anderson of Amarillo and Pat Hargrove of Hedley; a son, Johnny Harold Houdashell [last name incorrectly stated, should have been Linville] of Amarillo; a stepson, Ernie Houdashell of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; nine step-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive visitors from 7 until 9 P.M. today at the funeral home. They suggest memorials be to Rowe Cemetery in Hedley.
