Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Phillip (Christina) Achter, 80, Wahpeton. Mrs. Achter, who has been a Wahpeton resident since 1907, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Mrs. Achter, the former Christina Hermes, was born July 24, 1881, at Great Bend, ND, and was married Nov. 28, 1900. The couple moved here in 1907 and she has resided here since. Mr. Achter died in 1953.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Rubish, Fairmount, ND, and Mrs. Virgil Sturdevant and Sophie and Ella Achter, all Wahpeton, and three sons, Joseph of Kent, MN; Clarence of Wahpeton, ND, and Ray of Wadena, MN.
She also leaves two brothers, Carl and Jacob Hermes, Wahpeton; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Achter and Josephine Hermes, Wahpeton, and Mrs. Joe Freemark, Breckenridge, 16 grandchildren and two great grand-children.
