After their marriage they resided in a stone home on Mechanic Street, across from the old Town Hall & Jail in New Hope, Pa. That house is still standing.

Her husband John, an unskilled laborer, had multiple jobs during his lifetime, the last being a guard at the bridge that ran over the Delaware River between New Hope, Pa. & Lambertville, NJ. John also served in World War I as a Private in the U.S. Army.

Winnie worked cleaning people's homes & washing clothes to help make ends meet during their marriage.

Winnie then moved to Lambertville, NJ in October 1944, in a home across from her son Richard. She later moved to an apartment built for her over the garage of her daughter Margaret's home in New Hope, Pa. where she lived until moving also with Margaret to Punta Gorda, FL in 1974.

They had 3 children together; Margaret Eunice Pickett, John Ernest Pickett, Jr., and Richard George Pickett.
