Charles Wesley Thomas DICKINSON was the tenth of ten children who grew to adulthood born to Dr. Samuel Burling DICKINSON (1804-1881) and his wife, Caroline Elizabeth KINNISON (1818-1926).

Samuel Burling DICKINSON was directly descended from four passengers who were aboard the Mayflower on her maiden voyage to America arriving in Nov 1620 (John HOWLAND, Elizabeth TILLEY and Elizabeth's parents). Thus, Charles Wesley Thomas DICKINSON was descended from them, too.

SBD is a qualifying ancestor for membership in the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, the John Howland Society, the Sons of the Republic of Texas, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and Texas First Families.

At the top right is a portrait of five of the seven DICKINSON men born to Samuel Burling DICKINSON and his wife, Caroline Elizabeth KINNISON. Standing are John James DICKINSON (left) and Charles Wesley Thomas DICKINSON (right). Seated left to right are George Franklin DICKINSON, David Milton DICKINSON, and Samuel Abel DICKINSON.

The photo is from a collection owned by Ralph Henry DICKINSON who is descended from David Milton DICKINSON. On 14 Jul 1887, Charles Wesley Thomas DICKINSON was married to Josephine Wright MCMANUS in DeWitt County, Texas. Her parents were David MCMANUS (1819-1885) who was born in South Carolina and his wife, Martha Ann WRIGHT (1822-1875) who was born in Mississippi.

Twelve known children were both to them, and all but one grew to adulthood. Their son, Delmer Edward DICKINSON, died in infancy, when he was only 8 days old. Their children's names and approximate birth years are shown below.
