Margaret Grabowski Age 88 died peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2003.
She was born in Erie, PA and moved to Delaware as a child. She dedicated her life to all of her family as well as her friends. A wonderful homemaker and cook, whose first words to you when entering her home were most likely, "What would you like to eat?" She was involved in many of Wilmington's Polish organizations at their beginning, along with organizations that had an interest in her children like Scouting, St. Hedwig's PTA, St. Edmond's and Salesianum Mothers Guild and numerous others. Her longest commitment was to the Quota Club of Wilmington, which lasted over many decades and where she was still an active member.
She worked along side her husband, William Grabowski, for more that 25 years as he built his printing business in Wilmington while never failing to be the perfect mother, wife and homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Hedwig Parish. Her wit, spirit for life, pride in family and unique perspectives will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Her husband, William E. Grabowski, died in 1999. This wonderful mother and friend is survived by her 3 sons, William E. Grabowski, Jr. of Wilmington, Thomas S. Grabowski of St. James City, FL and John P. Grabowski of Wilmington; a sister, Lucy B. Pietlock; a brother, Walter Barczewski, both of Wilmington; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday morning between 9-10 am at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Hedwig Church, Linden and Harrison Streets. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Quota International of Wilmington, PO Box 8182, Wilmington, DE 19803-8162.
