WILLIAM "ELBERT" SMITH

William "Elbert" Smith, 70, of Marmaduke, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at the St. Bernard's Medical Center. Born August 3, 1935, in Marmaduke, Mr. Smith was an Army veteran and a retired security guard. Survivors include three brothers, Leon Smith of Marmaduke, Dewayne Smith of Paragould, Kevin Smith of Paragould; five sisters, Joy Ressler of Carmel, Indiana, Judy Dennis of Jonesboro, Indiana, Shela Weesner of Cicero, Indiana, Wanda Thompson of Somerset, Kentucky, and Melonie Smelser of Lafe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ettar Smith; two brothers, Wesley Smith and Odell Smith. The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, with Rodney Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, from noon until service time in the chapel. James Weesner, Shane Smith, Rick Smelser, Nathaniel Pohl, Dewayne Smith and Rodney Dennis will serve as pallbearers.
