First husband was George Wheeler whom she married in England and had one daughter with there, Ann Wheeler. George preceeded her to America and he sent for her, their daughter and her sister, Sarah Beavan (later Moralee). They settled in Dubuque County, Iowa where she had another child, Thomas, with George Wheeler, plus two who did not live long. Husband George Wheeler died and she was soon remarried to James Alton, a widower. They did not have children together, but she took over raising his daughters from his first marriage (Ann Alton buried here), Mary A. b. abt 1841 and Margaret A. b. abt 1843. In 1848 they moved to Hazel Green, Grant Co., WI., about 2 miles from this cemetery. In the 1860 census, her parents, Thomas and Margaret Beavan (Bevan) are living with them at ages 85 and 83 respectively.
