Miss Virgie Kleppinger of 929 S. 17th Ave., a high school English teacher for over 40 years, died this morning in Ortiz Convalescent Home, Lena, after an extended illness.
Miss Kleppinger, who had a bachelor's degree from Carthage College and a master's degree from the University of Iowa, taught at Durand, Orangeville, Pearl City and Kincaid schools and the former Becker school before retiring.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was active in the church's societies. Also, she was a DAR member and held membership in Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
Born March 4, 1893, at Cedarville, she was the daughter of Allen and Salinda (Springman) Kleppinger.
Surviving are two brothers, LeRoy of Freeport, with whom she lived, and Allen S. of Western Springs; and a sister, Mrs. Geneva Althoff of Freeport.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Nels E. Bengston, pastor of First Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
