Maud was born to Sheldon Densmore Knowlton and Edna Osborn, in Joliet, Will County, Illinois, on July 30, 1892.

Maud married William Swift Vaughan, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, on July 12, 1920.

William and Maud had two sons: William Knowlton Vaughan and Sidney Knowlton Vaughan, in 1921 and 1923, respectively.

According to the U.S. Censuses of 1930 and 1940, William was a postal clerk, and Maud was a public school teacher.

Maud died, in Channahon, Will County, Illinois, on September 17, 1947.

William and Maud's remains share one tombstone.
