Joseph Oscar Newman, 77, of Bebee, died suddenly at 1:45 p. m. Wednesday at his home. He was born at Bebee, December 12, 1884, a son of Berkley B. and Hattie Hafer Newman. He was a former member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are two sons, Archie, of New Martinsville, and Kenneth, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Denzil Higgins, of Hopedale, Ohio; four grandchildren and a great grandchild; and a brother William T. of Lancaster, Ohio. His wife Alma O'Neil Newman, preceded him in death in 1941. Services were conducted at the Wells Funeral Home in New Martinsville at 2 p. m. Saturday, with Evangelist Raymond G. Norris of the Pine Grove Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in the North View Cemetery.
