MRS. ALONZO RYUN
Mrs. Alonzo Ryun, a lifelong resident of this vicinity, died at her home in west Chariton on April 3, 1939, at the age of 75 years, after an extended illness.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. C. W. Grim, of the Church of the Nazarene, were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Beardsley funeral home, and burial was in the Sharon cemetery.
Mary Elizabeth Lane, daughter of James A. and Sarah Ann Lane, was born in Lucas county, Iowa, on April 10, 1864. She grew to young womanhood in this vicinity and was married on Sept. 26, 1884, to Alonzo Monroe Ryun. To them ten children were born, three of whom, George Leonard, Eldon Monroe and Charles Henry, preceded her in death.
Those living are Mrs. Mae Dovenspike, Mrs. Cora White, Mrs. Lucy Ballard, Mrs. Eva Mullen and Lewis Ryun, of Chariton; Joe L. Ryun, of Murray; and John L. Ryun, of Truro.
Mrs. Ryun spent most of her life in and near Chariton. In early years she united with the United Brethren church. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a splendid neighbor, always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to others, and will be greatly missed in the home circle and community.
Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn their loss sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, also three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Thomas Longcar, of Eddyville; Mrs. Asa Ryun, Hiteman; Mrs. Mary Roark, Oelwein; Wm. Lane, Moline, Ill.; Albert Lane, Chariton; and Marion Lane, Ottumwa.
