Marian E. Calvert, age 88, of Mineral Point and formerly of Darlington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Bloomfield Manor, Dodgeville.
She was born in Dixon, Ill., on Dec. 4, 1922, the daughter of Jasper and Vera (Wenger) Doan. She was united in marriage to Fremont Calvert on Nov. 7, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa. They farmed in the Willow Springs Township until moving to Darlington in 1977, and then to Mineral Point in 2005. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and spending time with her loving family.
Marian is survived by her four children, Joan (Donald) Huxtable of Mineral Point, Betty Feia of Eau Claire, Ruth (Rod) Erickson of Tomah, and Cindy (Victor) Varga of Ringle; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Doan; brother-in-law, Harold Lattin; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fremont on Sept. 3, 2010; three brothers, Donald Doan, Clifford (Norma) Doan and Kenneth Doan; a son-in-law, David Feia; and sister and brother-in-law, Winogene (Hampton) Skattum and Grace Lattin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point. Pastor Rom Pegram will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held on Saturday from noon until time of service at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME.
