William M. Eldridge, 83, 4100 Morrison St., died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Terrell following a nine-months illness.
Funeral services will be held at the Coker-Mathews-Peters Chapel at 2 p.m. today. Officiating will be Rev. B. J. Bell with burial to follow in Tidwell Cemetery.
Mr. Eldridge was born Jan. 4, 1883, in Sparta, Tenn., the son of John Eldridge and Susan Worley Eldridge. He came to Texas when he was a small boy, settled at Dixon, and later moved to Whiterock. He married Lily Jacobs.
Survivors include eight sons, Ray Eldridge, Odell Eldridge, Charles Eldridge, all of Greenville, Billy Eldridge of Celeste, William Eldridge, Jr. of Mesquite, James Eldridge of Dallas, John R. Eldridge of Killeen, and Celburne Eldridge of McKinney; two daughters, Mrs. Suzy Watson of Celeste and Mrs. Irene Dunn of Lubbock; one brother, Raymond Eldridge of California; two sisters, Avo Lilly of Carlsbad, N. M., and Mrs. Clem Parrish (sic) of Greenville; and 18 grand children and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Porter Knox, W. E. Quattlebaum, Tom Caldwell, Frank Goen, M. A. Watson and Winfred Wilborn.
