Salina Journal – October 13, 1982
CONCORDIA — The funeral for Sister Cortona Robben, 92, was Tuesday at the Nazareth Motherhouse, Concordia, the Rev. Henry Kieffer officiating. Burial was in the Sisters' cemetery in Concordia. Sr. Cortona died Sunday at the Motherhouse, following a long illness.
On May 6, 1908, she was in the first group of Sisters to receive the habit of the Congregation in the newly-dedicated Sacred Heart Chapel at the Motherhouse. Most of Sr. Cortona's 74 years as a Sister of St. Joseph were spent teaching in Kansas and New Mexico before she retired in 1971. She taught more than 20 years at St. Mary's Academy and St. Vincent's School in Silver City, N.M. She also worked in Plainville, St. Peter, Pfeifer, Damar, Park, Collyer, Schoenchen and Tipton.
Surviving are four other sisters, Mrs. Clara Fortin, Mrs. Helen Campbell, Mrs. Theresa Hickert and Mrs. Agnes Bruggeman; and two brothers, Matthew and Paul.
