Mrs. Peggy Knox Mattox passed away peacefully on Friday, April 02, 2010 at home. Peggy was born December 19, 1926 to Dovie and Leo Knox. She graduated from Crockett High School in 1944 and Baylor University in 1947. At Baylor, she majored in business and radio. After graduation from Baylor, Peggy married Robert T. (Bob) Mattox. Bob and Peggy settled in Crockett where they owned a bakery and later the Houston County Credit Bureau. They were loving parents to two sons, John and Jim and two granddaughters, Kathryn and Julie. Bob and Peggy opened their hearts and home to nieces, nephews and friends, as well. In addition to her work at the Credit Bureau, Peggy had a cake decorating business and made beautiful wedding and birthday cakes. She was actively involved for many years in the Beta Sigma Phi organization and was a 50 plus year member of the Eastern Star. Peggy was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and a faithful member of the Della Gus Circle and Young at Hearts. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bob Mattox and son, Jim Mattox.

Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Knox Mattox will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerry House officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
