Mary Jane was the fourth child and first daughter of William O Sellman and Ann Pricilla Woodward Poole.

In December 1865, Mary Jane became the third wife of Joseph Thomas Getzendanner. They had one child, Maud Estelle Getzendanner.

Boyds, Md., June 20. - Mrs. Jennie Getzendanner died suddenly Wednesday night at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Charles C. Waters, a prominent farmer near Germantown. She was the widow of the late Dr. Getzendanner, of Montgomery County. Mrs. Getzendanner is survived by an only daughter. She was fifty-three years old. Her remains will be interred beside those of her husband's in Monocacy Cemetery at Beallsville.
