She and her husband Andreas (Andrew) Haag are my great great grandparents. They were pioneer settlers in the Cullom Illinois area in Sullivan Township of Livingston County. They came to America about 1853, and settled in Pennsylvania. Later, they moved to Illinois to farm the virgin prairie. Most of the family stayed right here and we are still here today, many generations later!
While the family lived in Pennsylvania, Elizabeth's husband Andreas was drafted into the Union Army in the Civil War. Before he left his home in Pennsylvania however, the war ended. They lived right near Gettysburg, and the shooting could be heard and rattled their windows, according to family papers. The children of the family carried those memories with them to Illinois and forever after.
The children born to Elizabeth and Andreas Haag are:
Johannes (John)
Johanna (Hannah)
Leonard L.
Barbery (Barbara)
Lorenz (Lawrence)
George H.
Ludwig
Andrew, Jr.
Elizabeth
I'm still working on the family history, so some corrections may be made.
Rest in peace grandmother.
