WILLIAMSPORT - Evylon Grace (DeLawter) Rauth died July 23 at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport, Md.
Evylon was one of four children born to Bertha Ruth Brandenberg and Otho Victor DeLawter. She was raised in Frederick County, Md., and lived most of her life in Hancock, Md., where she was known for her world travels, commitment to her community, love of her garden and her strong character.
Evylon was a past president of Hagerstown Garden Club, and a member of Colonial Dames XVII Century and Huguenot Society of Maryland.
Evylon is survived by her sister, Captain Margaret Teresa DeLawter; her brother, Dr. DeWitt Elmer DeLawter; and her daughter, Ellen. She also is survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Anthony Rauth; son, Philip Anthony Rauth Jr.; and brother, the Rev. George Woodrow DeLawter.
A private service will be held for the family. Interment will be in Hagerstown, Md.
Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Bryan K. Kenworthy P.A., 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
