Walter Lee Gregg, age 74, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 4:18 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2003, in Olivewood Health Care Center in Shelbyville.

Mr. Gregg was born August 6, 1928 in Effingham County, the son of Jesse B. and Fern Cox Gregg.

Mr. Gregg served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Prior to serving his country, he farmed with his father. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in Decatur, IL in 1989 after 32 years of employment. He was a member of the Decatur Caterpillar Campers Club and the Moultrie Amateur Radio Club. He loved to hunt, fish and camp, and was one of the best St. Louis Cardinal baseball fans, ever.

He married Jo Ann Holley December 23, 1951 in Findlay, IL and she survives. Also surviving are a son Jeff Gregg and wife Vicki of Shelbyville; daughters: Julie Hodson and fiancee Louis Morrow of Collierville, TN and Jill Sluss and husband Bill of Shelbyville; granddaughters: Jennifer Gregg and Sierra Gregg of Shelbyville; grandsons: Justin Brown and wife Shannon of Walls, MS, Eric Hodson and wife Jennifer of Southhaven, MS, Richard Sluss and Dylan Gregg of Shelbyville; two great grandchildren Taylor Brown and Jackson Hodson; two step granddaughters; three step great-grandsons; brothers: Virgil Gregg and wife Edith of Shelbyville and Leon Gregg and wife Maxine of Orlando, FL; sisters-in-law Doris Gregg, and Wanda Holley of Shelbyville and Bernadine Clark of Decatur, IL.
