Funeral services for Joseph Doll, 84, were held at the Sacred Heart church in Wauzeka, Thursday, Aug. 15, the Rev. Zoll officiating and the interment in the adjoining cemetery.
Son of Joseph and Emelia Doll, he was born in Eastman township Jan. 17 1872.
He was married to Magdalene Schoeffer of Prairie du Chien, Jan. 17, 1898 and to this union five children were born. They lived on a farm near Wauzeka until 1912 when they moved to the village and the box factory was erected.
Mr. Doll was interested in his home, church and community. He represented Wauzeka on the county board of supervisors for a number of years and was a member of the village board.
In 1927 he was elected village president and held this office until he retired from public office. He was a director of the Peoples State Bank at Prairie du Chien since 1934 and resigned as president of the board due to ill health.
He donated the land on which the community building was built and which was later dedicated in his honor.
Mr. and Mrs. Doll celebrated their golden wedding, Jan. 17, 1948.
Surviving are his wife, four daughters and one son, George and Mrs. T.J. (Loretta) Hanley of Wauzeka, Mrs. Raleigh (Magdalene) Hubbard and Mrs. Charles (Gertrude) Hanratty of Milwaukee and Mrs. Delos (Eleanor) Dieter of Boscobel, 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
