ST. GEORGE, UTAH-- George Smith, age 77, died June 26, 1992 in St. George, of injuries sustained in a motor home fire.
He was born September 10, 1914 in Edinbourgh, Scotland, to William Sr. and Helen Turnbull Heggie Smith. He married Grace Fish, May 2, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, May 7, 1959.
Mr. Smith was reared and educated in Scotland. He came to the United States in 1929, and lived in Salt Lake City, where he was employed with Kennecott Copper for 30 years. He moved to St. George in 1979. George enjoyed bowling, soccer, and all spectator sports. He was a member of the LDS Church,having served as financial clerk in the Murray Utah 7th Ward, and was a high priest and home teacher
in the Dixie Downs 2nd Ward in St. George.
Surviving family members include: his wife, of St. George; a son, Gerald R., of Salt Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Karren) Hubrich, of Sandy; six grandchildren, one brother, William Smith Jr., of LeGrange, Kentucky; two sisters: Mrs. Ron (Jean) Morley, of Ely, Nevada; Mrs. Helen Copley, of Tooele, Utah;many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 1992, 10 a.m. in the Dixie Downs 2nd Ward Chapel, 1610 N. Dixie Downs Rd., St. George. Friends may call Monday, June 29,
7-8 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary,300 West St. George Blvd. and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 1992, 4 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Rd., Salt Lake City, where friends may call one hour prior to graveside.
