Fluffy was a Peruvian Long-Haired Guinea Pig. This two shaded brown and white fur ball brought so much happiness to so many first graders in Mrs. Barbara Riegert's classes for 10 years. Very, very few Guinea Pigs live to such an advanced age. Fluffy was very fond of the salad greens and carrots provided by the children. Weekends found Fluffy going home with different children for all those many years.
Some summers found Fluffy going home from school with the family of a child in the class or going home with Mrs. Riegert and her family. Mrs. Riegert passed away in the summer of 1998 and Fluffy survived her by only two months. The children of the A. Russell Knight Elementary School in Cherry Hill had lost both a wonderful teacher and "classmate" in such a short period of time.
