The Correctionville News, 8 March 1956, page 4: Graveside services for John H. Baumann, Sr. of Battle Creek were held in the Cushing Cemetery on February 29, 1956. Funeral services had been conducted in the Presbyterian Church at Battle Creek. Mr. Baumann died February 25, 1956, after a lingering illness, at the age of 71 years. Mr. Baumann grew to manhood on a farm southeast of Cushing. He married Laura Michaelsen and they lived in Cushing for some years when he operated a dray line. They moved from here to Battle Creek where he was in the lumber business. Survivors besides the widow are four sons, Winston of Battle Creek, Francis of Holstein, John of Cody, Wyoming, and Wendell who is serving in the Navy; two daughters, Mrs. Ben Brosamle and Mrs. Matt Lorenzen of Battle Creek; nine grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.
