She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil Wayne Ledford. She worked at the City of Alpharetta Police Department and as a crossing guard in Fulton County. She was a member of the Jaycettes. She loved to read in her spare time. The Roswell Visitors Bureau opened its doors at 617 Atlanta Street in Roswell in May 1992. Dot Martin immediately signed up to volunteer and from 1992 - 2011 she donated her time to welcoming visitors to the City of Roswell. Her smiling face made everyone feel that we were truly happy to see them in our city. Even while she battled cancer, she continued to work at the Roswell Visitors Center on Saturdays, sharing her knowledge of the area with others. Prior to volunteering at the Roswell Visitors Center, Dot volunteered at the Chattahoochee Nature Center for many years. The Nature Center was her way of sharing her love of wildlife. Dot worked in the gift shop where she interacted with the public, welcomed them to the Center, shared information about the Nature Center and assisted with sales. Throughout her life, Dot gave unselfishly of her time and energies to benefit her community and others. She is known for her sweet disposition, her unassuming nature, and her courage that was evident throughout the many years she battled cancer. Whatever turns her health was taking, she continued to think of others first and gave all she could. She is survived by her only son, Reid Ledford, of Roswell and many close friends who already miss her dearly. A funeral service will be held on Thursday July 14, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell.
