Mel was an active member of the LDS Church serving as ward clerk, high priest group leader, temple worker and home teacher. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Egypt, India, Australia and New Zealand.
Mel's lifelong passion and gift to all of us were his beautiful flowers as the chief florist for Salt Lake City growing and arranging flowers for Liberty Park and the Salt Lake City Cemetery. He and his wife, Ida, owned and operated Lake Hills Nursery in Bountiful, Utah. Mel loved horses, raising and riding his favorite Appaloosa's well into his 80's.
