Harrell Rich Hightower, 80, of Ceres died Thursday at Doctors Medical Center, Modesto.
Mr. Hightower was a native of Belcherville, Texas, and had lived in Ceres since 1946. He was a refrigeration engineer for 30 years at Campbell Soup Co. He was a deacon at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Modesto. He served in the Navy's Sea Bees from 1942-45.
He is survived by his wife, Icie L. Hightower of Ceres; children, Morgan Hightower, Danny Hightower and Cynthia Hightower, all of Bakersfield, and Pat Hightower of Ceres; sister, Lea Bailey of Tulare; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, Modesto. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
