Phelps, New York
Thursday, 11 January, 1900
Charles T. Severance of this village, received a dispatch Monday evening, from Rosedale Kansas, that his sister, Mrs. Mary Jane Spencer, of that place, had died of pneumonia that afternoon. The deceased who was 68 years of age, was born in this town, and married Wm. Spencer then a resident of this village. They moved west over 30 years ago and have resided most of the time at Rosedale, a suburb of Kansas City, where she died. Her husband was a prosperous business man of that place and died some 10 or 12 years since, leaving the wife, two sons and a daughter. The latter died a few years since, so that but two sons survive her. The deceased was well and favorably known here and her former friends will be pained to learn of her death.
