Son of Albert G. and Mary J. Doty-Severance.
Husband of Frances Allen.
Had one son, Frederick Charles Severance.

He and his brother Henry C. had a blacksmith and carriage shop business on Exchange St. in Phelps, NY.

Member of Phelps Lodge, No. 286, I.O.O.F

Member of Gen. John E. Murray post, G. A. R.

He was the organizer and director of the Phelps Cornet Band, which was formerly adopted as the official band of the 148th.

Buried in the family plot E 46, at Resthaven Cemetery, Phelps, NY.
His stone is hard to read, but you can see mention of the 148th. His name is up on top of the stone.
