NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Elaine LaBauve Broussard, age 88, at 12:00 pm on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Arnaud will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Nativity Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Friday from 8:00 am until 11:30 am.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Broussard passed away peacefully on Friday, May 06, 2011 at Belle Teche Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Broussard was retired from Standard Supply with 20 year's service. She was a devoted parishioner of Nativity Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.
Elaine loved her family and cherished the time spent with them. She leaves behind many fond memories that will forever live on the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen Broussard Segura and husband Ricky, and Patrice Broussard LeJeune all of New Iberia; six grandchildren, Jennifer S. Gautreaux and Wesley, Nicholas Segura and Jeannique, Michelle S. Skinner and Jess, Patrick Segura, Beau LeJeune, and Emily LeJeune; and her sister, Betty L. Voorhies of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren "PeeWee" Broussard; parents, Elmo LaBauve, Sr. and Vernice Viator LaBauve; a brother, Elmo LaBauve, Jr.; and her sister, Thelma Hudson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky, Nicholas, and Patrick Segura, Beau LeJeune, Wesley Gautreaux, Andre LaBauve, and Phil Haney. Honorary pallbearers will be Ross Landry and Keith LaBauve.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff of Belle Teche Nursing Home for their compassion shown during our mothers care.
