While the inscription on her grave monument shows a birth date of 27 JUL 1886, that year is evidently not correct. She appears as: Carrie M., aged 8 years and born in Georgia, in the household headed by her father (apparently a widower) James M. GARST on the 1870 federal census of Panthersville District, DeKalb County, Georgia; as Carrie M., aged 18 years and born in Georgia, in a household headed by her brother Christopher M. GARST on the 1880 federal census of Militia District #1122 (Fairplay District) in Carroll County, Georgia; and as Martha, aged 38 years, born JUL 1861 (Georgia Georgia Georgia), in the household headed by her husband, William ADDERHOLD on the 1900 federal census of Militia District #1443 (Tallapoosa District) in Paulding County, Georgia. Moreover, a marriage date in JAN 1883 is much more plausible for a woman born in JUL 1861 (aged 21 years) than a girl born in JUL 1866 (aged 16 years).

Married 25 JAN 1883 in Carroll County, Georgia, to William Capers "Willie" ADERHOLD. Mother of ten children.
