MRS. A. B. CASS DIES SUDDENLY

Shock Casts Gloom Over Mothers' Congress, With Which Popular Woman Was Closely Identified

As a sad and sudden shock the death of Mrs. Emily Cass, wife of A. B. Cass, president of the Home Telephone and Telegraph company, has cast a shadow over the Mothers' congress and church circles.

Only ill a few days, Mrs. Cass' death will be doubly sad, as she had been actively engaged in preparing for the congress and was also active in church work.

After an illness of less than a week, the death of Mrs. Cass early yesterday morning was a shock to both the family and friends, although she had been unconscious since last Tuesday, the day when her illness took a serious turn.

Mrs. Cass was widely known and beloved, having conducted a boys' Sunday school class at the Knox Presbyterian church, with whom she was justly popular, although she was a member of the Immanuel Presbyterian church. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Tufts of this city and has been popular since her girlhood days.

Mrs. Cass is survived by her husband and eight children - Frank, Phil, Louie, Quincy, Charles, Flora Emily, Alonzo Beecher and Donald Cass.

The funeral will be held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the family residence, 438 West Thirty-third street. Rev. Dr. Hugh K. Walker will officiate, assisted by Rev. E. J. Harper and Rev. W. S. Young. The interment will be in Rosedale cemetery.
