Mary Ruth Carver Bulger, age 82, of Florence, Ala., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in her home.Ruth was born March 28, 1922, in Sylacauga, Ala. She was the daughter of the late Ella Odessa Smith Carver and the late Walter Jackson Carver. Ruth has been a resident of Florence for 38 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Florence.Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence. The funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Larry Wright officiating. Interment will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.Pallbearers will be members of her family. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church of Florence.Ruth is survived by her husband of 63 years, Virlyn L. Bulger, a retired UNA professor of science; son, Donald L. Bulger and wife, Betty, of Richmond, Va.; daughters, Linda Cornatzer, of Florence, Patricia Waddell and husband, Larry, of Centre, Ala., Sandra Wade and husband, Donald, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Donna Colburn, of Charlestown, R.I., Deanna Daniel, of Richmond, Va., Teresa Lentz and Richard Cornatzer, of Florence, Jonathan Waddell and Angelyn Waddell, of Atlanta, Ga., Michael Wade, of Alabaster, Ala., Vicki Wade, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three great-granddaughters, Caroline Lentz, Britton Wade and Rose Emmons; four great-grandsons, Hunter Cornatzer, Eric Colburn, John and Willie Daniel; sisters, Billie Horne, Nelda Watson and Sammie Jennings; and brother, Robert Carver.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Florence, Ala., Hospice of the Shoals, or to a charity of the donor's choice.The family wishes to express special thanks to Ms. Sarah Smith, Dr. Danny Martin and Hospice of the Shoals for their loving care.Spry Serenity Chapel, of Florence, is directing.
