SULPHUR — Nellie D. Riche went to be with God on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, when she died in her residence.
She was a native of Cottonport. She moved to the Lake Charles-Sulphur area 1 1/2 years ago to be close to her family. She was a graduate of Cottonport High School, and she attended business college in Alexandria. She was a secretary to the Camp Claiborne post commander during World War II. She was the business manager for Turner Lumber Co. for 33 years. She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and The Church School.
Survivors include one son, John "Boo" Riche of Sulphur; one daughter-in-law, Lynda Riche of Sulphur; and two grandsons, Kevin Riche and Andy Riche, both of Sulphur; one sister, Freida Riche of Evergreen; and one brother, M.D. Descant of Bunkie.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 28, from St. Mary Catholic Church of Cottonport. Monsignor Carson LaCaze will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Escude Funeral Home of Cottonport. Local arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
