"COHRS, Albert E. and Carolina

Albert was born to Ernest and Fredricka Cohrs on April 17, 1876, at St. Peter, MN. Carolina Rhea Peterson was born June 6, 1874, in Fillmore Co., MN, and moved with her parents to Cottonwood County in 1879 where she grew up. On March 9, 1897, Albert and Carolina were married at Windom, MN. They had six children: Jessie, Myrtle, Ruth, Mildred, and two daughters who died in infancy.
The Cohrs family resided in Murray County for four years before moving to North Dakota, but in 1909 they moved to Paddock Twp. and a year later into Sebeka. Carolina died on October 20, 1916.
In the early years of this century, Albert owned the Sebeka Livery and Sale Stable, which in present day terminology would be a taxi company and automobile dealership. The barn was located across the street south of the present day high school. Albert had a variety of customers, but the only stories his son Alan remembers were of taking some men up to Hubbard Prairie to hunt prairie chickens and also other journeys to Cat Creek with trout fisherman. It is recorded in some of his record books that he had been hired by Misses Sadie and Alice Halvorson to take them on a shopping trip to Wadena.
On May 25, 1918, Albert married Sadie Halvorson at Sebeka. They had two children, Alan and Shirley. Following their marriage, they resided in Nimrod for nine years, four years in Wadena, six years on a farm in Paddock Twp., and 23 years in Sebeka. Albert passed away on December 18, 1960, in Sebeka." Page 361

In April 1916 A. Tullis bought the Sebeka Livery and Sale Stable from A.E. Cohrs, Tullis taking over the livery barn property, horses, buggies, feed, etc., Cohrs keeping the auto livery branch of the business. Cohrs was soon to have competition, however. "Mr. Tullis expects to purchase an automobile within a few weeks and run an auto livery in connection with his horse livery, sale and feed stable," the Review reported." Page 19
